Ticket Info

• Every dancer (+ 1 parent per dancer) will be on an “entry list” at each gate.
• Additional parents and non-dancers should pre-purchase their tickets online.
• Advanced tickets: Get $2 off single-day adult admission! Ticket orders must be received by August 31. Payments are not refundable.
• Online ticket sales close at midnight on August 31, 2026.

Dance Venue Rules

• Dancing will be inside the Community Building.
• NO WAGONS, LAWN CHAIRS OR TENTS ALLOWED INSIDE THE BUILDING.
• Only leashed pets are allowed.
• No alcoholic beverages may be brought into the fairgrounds.

Special Dance Awards

16 Years & Over Cash Awards

The following cash awards will be given in lieu of medals for Premier categories ages 16 years and over:

• 1st $30, 2nd $25, 3rd $20, 4th $15, 5th $10, 6th $5

Joyce Deddens Premier Highland Dancer Award

• Premier dancers with a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the Hornpipe will compete in a dance-off (Hornpipe, 4) for this award.
• A $50 gift certificate will be awarded to the winning Premier dancer.
• Sponsored by Society of Greater Louisville in honor of Joyce Deddens, a founding member of The Scottish Society of Louisville, Kentucky.

Most Promising Beginner Dancer

• A prize sword will be awarded to the most promising Beginner dancer.
• Winner is at the discretion of the judge.

Competition Rules

1. The competition is governed by RSOBHD and ScotDance USA rules.
2. All dancers must be registered with ScotDance USA, or another registration body in order to dance. Registration Number MUST be on Entry Form.
3. All dancers must have a 2026 registration card to receive awards.
4. Age groups will be determined after entries are received.
5. Organizer reserves the right to split or combine classes the day of the competition.
6. Last to enter, first to dance rules apply.
7. The organizer reserves the right to make changes to any information and times given in the entry form if necessary.
8. Communication by a dancer or parent of a dancer with the judge or piper is not allowed and is grounds for disqualification.
9. Pre-Premier category changes must be made by August 22, 2026.
10. Dancers not on hand when their class is called will forfeit entry on that event.
11. All winners must be in competition dress to accept awards.
12. All dance competitors and teachers are expected to comply with the RSOBHD & SDUSA Code of Ethics.
13. SDUSA takes data privacy very seriously. Personal data is collected by competition organizers and SDUSA Officers for the purpose of performing our duties within RSOBHD and SDUSA guidelines. All data is recorded in electronic format (for example Excel or Highland Scrutineer) and retained for a period of one year at which time electronic records will be deleted and paper entry forms properly disposed.
14. 3 Month Rule: Judges who conduct teaching or coaching classes, seminars or any other forms of tuition (eg. by video conferencing), may not adjudicate any competitor who has attended any of these classes, for a period of three months after the last class, workshop, or any other form of tuition that competitor has attended.
15. Entry fee includes dancer and one parent admission to the games. Names will be on an admittance list at the gate.
16. Competitor numbers will be distributed at the event during registration.
17. Entries must be submitted by September 1, 2026. Late entries will be accepted with double fees.
18. Entry fees are as follows: Primary – $25, Beginner – $30, Novice – $30, Intermediate – $30, Premier – $35.
19. Early Bird Entry fees (register prior to July 1) are as follows: Primary – $20, Beginner – $25, Novice – $25, Intermediate – $25, Premier – $30.
20. An additional $5 fee per dancer is charged for SDUSA Midwest Region.
21. Entry fees are non-refundable.
22. Judge’s decision is final. Any protest must be in writing, signed, and handed to the Dance Director by the end of the competition, accompanied by a fee of $30.00 that would be refundable if the protest is sustained.
